“John taught me what I should and should not do when it comes to maintaining a healthy body. He has changed my outlook on working out and I feel a positive motivation to continue down the path I am on.”
As a teenage girl I dealt with a lot of the same weight issues that other girls deal with. First of all I ate like a teenager: soda, chips, junk food, you name it I ate it. But I also struggled with the basic body issues. I would ask myself “Am I thin enough?” or “Why am I not as skinny as those girls in the magazines?” I soon began to realize I was never meant to be stick thin and weight gain would always be a problem I would face.
However, I was not lazy. I was a cheerleader for many years and danced too. I have the build of a cheerleader and worked out consistently for cheerleading. But with college fast approaching, cheerleading soon ended and I had no activity to keep me busy once I was in college.
This is where John came in. My mom and I knew that with my eating habits and no activities to keep me moving in college that “Freshman 15” could become a reality if I was not careful. So, this past summer, my mom and I met with John to talk to him about how I wanted to drop a few pounds ,develop a workout routine and learn healthy eating habits for college. I began working out with him and I was nervous to say the least. I had never worked out that hard in my life. John also kept me accountable for what I ate. When I would write down that I had a hotdog two days in a row, he would let me know I could do better than that.
This accountability and hard work let me drop the 10 pounds of fat I wanted to drop over the summer, plus I lost inches in places I thought were impossible to lose inches in. I gained healthy eating habits and a workout routine that I feel confident doing in my large gym on campus.
Since this past summer I have continued to lose weight while at college, rather than gaining it. John taught me what I should and should not do when it comes to maintaining a healthy body. He has changed my outlook on working out and I feel a positive motivation to continue down the path I am on. I am so thankful that John could teach me my healthy habits now, so that I am living a healthier lifestyle now than I ever was before.
