I have never been truly satisfied with how my body looked, even at peak fitness levels. I have bounced back and forth between a size 8 and size 12 most of my life. After college, I met my future husband and decided to become a massage therapist. Between returning to school for massage therapy, long work hours and lots of romantic evenings involving wine, I quickly put on forty pounds. I was in denial and by the end of 2007, I weighed 235. I avoided pictures and getting dressed to go out was a disaster. I joined Lifestyles fitness but that was a joke and time was limited so that quickly went by the wayside.
In April 2008, I was contacted by John who had recently opened BLAST and was looking for a full time massage therapist. I jumped at the opportunity to work with someone who not only was incredibly talented, but also very motivating. John quickly became a friend as well as a mentor to me. He unexpectedly not only helped me build my career professionally, but has also pushed me to take advantage of my knowledge of exercise and the tools that are at my fingertips working at BLAST.
John is an inspiring trainer and so much more. Thanks to his ability to push me to the limit, I have not only reached a better place mentally, I am stronger and in better shape than I have been since I danced in high school. It is very rare that someone truly cares about your success and believes in what he does.
I am still on track and continuing to reach my fitness goals. As of November 2009, I reached a size 6 and weight of 155 pounds. John continues to help me break through barriers both physical and mental. All of us need someone to make us believe that we can do anything and John is definitely a rock when I feel like I can’t do anymore. I look forward to his continued support during the trek to my first fitness competition. I am truly grateful that I met John and have been lucky enough to experience the invigorating phenomenon that is JOLT!
